All-Star High School group performance at North Coast Brewing Co.’s Sequoia Room
Internationally-acclaimed jazz saxophonist Bobby Watson was on stage last week in Fort Bragg. Watson, along with five of the country’s most gifted high school music students from the Thelonious Monk Institute Performing Arts High School Jazz All-Stars performed last weekend at the North Coast Brewery’s “Jazz at the Sequoia Room.”

Congratulations to drummer and New Orleans native Brian Richburg on being awarded a four-year, full-tuition scholarship to the Berklee College of Music. Richburg is a graduate of our Performing Arts High Schools program and participated in our most recent Peer-to-Peer education tour to Dallas public schools with trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis.

Students in our Jazz in the Classroom program in Los Angeles held their culminating Spring Concert in June, featuring a performance by the LAUSD/Thelonious Monk Institute All-City Big Band and special guest vocalist Jane Monheit.
